Parent-To-Be Ceremonies £110

These are for clients who want to:

  • surround themselves with friends/family prior to a birth or adoption,
  • hold an alternative to a baby shower,
  • compliment a traditional baby shower with a mini meaningful and personal ceremony,
  • create positive memories to support you/parent to be through the birth or the early days of adoption,
  • recognise the exciting new stage in your/their life.
I feel as a society we are quite tough on new parents. I had prenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety. I didn't have a baby shower because I didn't want to be seen as making a fuss or for my friends to feel they were expected to bring presents. But what I didn't think about were my own needs and how positive it is to surround yourself with your "village" at such a vulnerable time. So I have decided to offer Parent-To-Be Ceremonies!

These ceremonies aim to leave the parents-to-be feeling loved and full of confidence in themselves. They can be a way of releasing fears and worries as well as promoting empowerment and reminding the parents-to-be of the strength of their network. They can include:
  • music and sing-a-longs,
  • poems,
  • readings,
  • promises,
  • symbolic actions. Here are some examples - wish trees, fingerprints, squares of fabric to be made into a blanket, painting the bump, bringing beads to make jewellery, bunting flags with messages of love, items for a hamper (e.g. healthy snacks, books, pamper kits), painting stones (anything that brings everyone together or that the parents-to-be can look at or read during labour or the early days of adoption).
My fee includes:
  • A planning meeting – where we discuss lots of information and ideas about what you would like from your ceremony.
  • A draft script sent to you to edit as you wish – we can edit this as many times as required until you feel completely happy.
  • Event planning – Working with others involved to ensure the ceremony goes as smoothly as possible.
  • Readings and promises printed out onto card for your ceremony.
  • A presentation copy of the script for you as a keepsake.
  • And of course, my time on the day including my arrival half an hour before the ceremony start time.
  • Mileage up to 20 miles from my home postcode is included in my fee. Outside of 20 miles is priced at 45p per mile as recommended by the gov.uk website. Mileage is calculated using Google maps.

Scriptwriting Only £200

For clients who would like a professional script from a qualified celebrant but would like:

  • to lead a ceremony themselves,
  • a friend/family member to lead a ceremony,
  • are holding the ceremony abroad and don't have the pennies to fly me out.

How Does It Work? It works the same as the ceremonies that I lead, the only difference is that you don’t need me on the day and you receive electronic copies of the presentation script rather than a paper copy (paper copies of readings, poems, scripts and certificates available at an additional fee). My fee includes:
  • A planning meeting – where we discuss lots of information and ideas about what you want from your ceremony and information about you as a family.
  • Support with creating your personal promises and choosing readings.
  • A draft script sent to you to edit as you wish – we can edit this as many times as required until you feel completely happy.
  • Readings and promises printed out onto card for your ceremony.
  • A digital presentation copy of the script for you as a keepsake (namings and weddings only).
  • A digital commemorative certificate.
  • Mileage up to 20 miles from my home postcode is included in my fee. Outside of 20 miles is priced at 45p per mile as recommended by the gov.uk website. Mileage is calculated using Google maps.
50% deposit must be paid in full before the planning meeting. The remaining balance to be paid on receipt of the draft script.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are available for clients who:

  • want to give vouchers as gifts e.g. for a birthday,
  • are a new grandparent, adoptive parent or step-parent wanting to find a special something to give to celebrate their family,
  • want to surprise their partner for Mother’s/Father’s Day,
  • want to surprise their partner as part of their engagement,
  • want to pay for a ceremony with me a bit at a time.

Memorial Naming Ceremonies

The celebration of the family unit and the support received from friends and other family members are central to my naming ceremonies. This means that my ceremonies cover many different family situations. A memorial naming ceremony can be held for a baby or child who has died. This is not a funeral service because I am not trained as a funeral celebrant. This is a ceremony for parents who did not have the chance to hold a naming ceremony when their child was alive. It can be held however long after the date of passing that you are most comfortable with. You may wish to mark your child’s birthday with a memorial naming ceremony or you may simply want my support to lead a gathering of your closest friends and family to celebrate your child’s life and place in the world. Fees Because of the sensitivity of the circumstances this is a pay as you feel service, that is, I do not charge a fee. You may pay what you wish (for example, a small contribution towards petrol and printing of the script is welcome) or nothing at all.
